What are Energy Therapies? Healing Touch and Reiki, two methods of energy therapies, provide care and support for individuals with cancer through light hands-on touch. Energy therapies complement medical treatment by promoting deep relaxation and a sense of well-being.
What happens in a session? The individual lies fully clothed on a massage table while the provider gently places their hands slightly above or on the individual. Many participants report feeling deeply relaxed and peaceful during and after the session.
One individual stated that "out of all of my medical appointments, this is the one that I look forward to." Another reported that "sometimes I fall asleep during the session, unusual for me because I have a hard time sleeping."
