Dear Friend,

I was 36 years old when I heard those words no one ever wants to hear, “You have cancer.”

It was a Tuesday, and I was sitting in my gynecologist’s office after having had a laparoscopic procedure the day before to remove what we all thought was a harmless cyst from my right ovary. It turned out not to be so harmless.
All in all, I was pretty lucky. I had the kind of ovarian cancer that “you don’t die from”. Although it was a rare non-aggressive form, a second surgery revealed more spots. The decision was made for me to undergo chemotherapy.
I tolerated chemo pretty well. I was young, healthy and in relatively good shape. With the help of anti-nausea meds, I never threw up and I was even able to work nearly full-time. But for three to four days after each chemo treatment, I felt as if I’d been hit by a tuck. I was dizzy, incredibly achy in all my bones and completely lethargic. Fortunately, my doctor believed in integrative medicine and told me about LifeSpark.

Throughout my cancer treatment, I participated in weekly, 60 minute hands-on healing sessions with a trained LifeSpark provider. I’m convinced those sessions contributed to my recovery. During chemo weeks, my LifeSpark sessions were a complete spiritual and emotional Godsend.
After an eight-hour day in the infusion center – with needles stuck in my arm and chemicals working their way through my body, surrounded by other bald, sick people and medical personnel rushing around – just being able to lie on a massage table for an hour was a tremendous relief. I didn’t have to worry about medical bills, my prognosis, my appearance, or my future. I could just BE and allow someone to take care of me.

My pain lessened and my stress melted away. I can’t even begin to tell you what a difference that made. The simple act of being touched during those weekly sessions made me feel more connected - an often overlooked but very important factor in healing.

LifeSpark make a tremendous difference to me during one of the darkest and loneliest periods of my life. You have the opportunity now to make a difference in someone’s life. Please donate generously to LifeSpark so they may help other people like me navigate the long and lonely cancer road. Thank you in advance for you r support of this amazing organization!

Sincerely,

Tracy Maxwell
