Why do we need you?
People who are receiving cancer treatments often experience pain, nausea, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. Those recovering from cancer often face emotional as well as physical distress. The Energy Partners Program addresses these needs. Your sessions will provide physical and emotional comfort for your client and will help facilitate their healing process.

As a provider, you will enter into a rich relationship that will return much to you. You will help facilitate healing and will see changes and progress over time. Providers receive training, support, and recognition for their efforts, and are part of a team that works together in this program.

How often will I provide sessions with my participant, and what happens at the end of the commitment?
You will provide weekly sessions and will be making a commitment for three months. At the end of this time, if both you and your participant wish to continue, you may extend the agreement for another three months. At the end of six months, you and your coach will evaluate whether to continue the relationship or end it.

Where do the sessions occur?
You will provide sessions at an approved location. View session locations

What is provided at the site where I offer sessions?
Each site where Energy Partner sessions occur will have a massage table, boom box, bolster, stool, clock, and in most cases music CDs, blankets, and pillows. There will also be fee envelopes at the site for the participant. You will bring your own sheets so that you can then take them back home and launder them, but everything else will be furnished.

May I do other complementary practices with my client?
The Energy Partners Program, at this time, only offers Healing Touch and Reiki to clients and we ask that you only use these modalities.

May I see a client I am already working with?
We generally match individuals with cancer with a different provider in order to keep your relationship with them pure in this program. Relationships can become complex when bringing an existing relationship into the program.

Do I document the sessions?
We ask you to fill out an initial Intake Assessment form about your client, and keep records of each of your sessions on Session Documentation form that will be provided. You keep these records in a secure place for your history and benefit.

Are the results of this program recorded or tracked in any way?
LifeSpark is conducting a study on the outcomes of this program. Participants are asked to fill out survey forms before beginning in the program and then again after twelve sessions. Results will be reported Participants and Providers at the completion of the study.

Is there a charge to the clients for Energy Partners?
This program is offered on a sliding scale fee basis. Participants pay between $1 and $20 per session depending upon their household income. Fees are determined during their initial meeting with LifeSpark staff. Once we have established the fee amount, you collect the fee each week and turn it in to LifeSpark. Fees are part of what supports this program financially and makes it possible for us to continue to serve new cancer patients. Fees pay for about 10% of program costs.

What if my client wants to offer me money?
To remain true to a program of service, Providers may not accept money for sessions. You can suggest that your client contribute in these ways: 1) Make a donation to LifeSpark to pay it forward for other participants, 2) tell others about the program, and 3) send prayers and good wishes for the program.

How is Energy Partners funded?
LifeSpark is a non-profit organization that operates primarily on contributions from generous agencies such as the Denver Foundation, The Cancer League of Colorado, and others. We actively seek funding from foundations, corporations, and individuals. Fees from participants pay about 10% of the total cost of the program. Anyone can contribution to Energy Partners by making a check out to LifeSpark and sending it to 355 S. Teller St, Ste 200, Lakewood, CO 80226.

How am I supported in this program?
You will be assigned a Coach who is an experienced Healing Touch or Reiki provider. Your coach will provide support and will answer any questions you have about your sessions with your client. They can also help you work through any issues that develop as your relationship with your client develops. In addition, you attend monthly Growth and Connections meetings for Providers and Coaches as an opportunity to continue your learning while sharing with other providers in the program.

How do I become a Provider?
Requirements include minimum education and experience along with attendance at our New Providers Seminar.  Once you have completed the weekend training, we will match you with a cancer patient and you can begin providing sessions. Timing on when you will be matched is dependent upon the number of participants who enroll in the program. Generally, everyone is matched within two to three months. Volunteer for this program
